How to test

The easiest way to test and configure the card is to view it via “direct access URL”. By default, this is www.yourdomain.com/christmas-card/. You can view it on this URL even when the card is disabled.

Who will see the card and how many times?

Each user can see the card only once per session (this setting can’t be changed), but you can change how many times they’ll see the card in total via the “show card to a single user x times” setting. This is a cookie (6 months lifetime) based restrictions.

Options

  • Status – if disabled the card will only be accessible trough the direct URL; if enabled advanced options are applied.
  • Theme – choose one of 6 available themes. Flying card is made in Flash others are HTML based with Flash parts (snow and music).
  • Color – set the background color by using the color picker or enter a value manually in hex format. This color sets the whole card’s mood.
  • Page title – HTML title of the card page.
  • Continue browsing text – this text appears in the top right corner of the card and enables the visitor to continue surfing to the page he/she originally wanted to visit. Leave blank if you don’t want to have that link.
  • Logo – Use the standard WP media uploader to choose/upload a logo. For HTML cards we suggest 390x100px, and for the Flash one 435x300px.
  • Logo border/background – depending on the background color of your logo you can choose whether to add white background and outline to it or not.
  • Main image – Main card image can be replaced on all cards except the Flying one and Silent night. Please refer to the original images to see what size fits best into the card.
  • Heading text 1 – biggest text on the card. HTML is supported as well as custom variables.
  • Heading text 2 – medium size text on the card. HTML is supported as well as custom variables.
  • Year – stylized representation of the year to come. You can also use it to enter some custom text.
  • Snow – choose one of 5 snow settings or disable it. This is 3D Flash based snow. It’s not available for Flying card.
  • Music – choose one of 5 music loops or disable music. Music is streamed so it won’t slow down the card’s loading time.
  • Direct access URL – use this URL to test the card’s settings. You can also use it if your users want to see the card more than once. It can also be used to create a landing page. Set the option to “/ ” and your site’s front page will be the card. This URL is available even when the card is disabled. WordPress permalinks have to be enabled (set to something other than “default”) for this feature to work.
  • Show card to a single user – users can see the card once per session (this setting can’t be changed), but you can change how many times they’ll see it in total. This is a cookie (6 months lifetime) based restrictions. If you set it to “2 times” it means the user will see the card once today, and once more the next time they visit the site (next time they get a new session).
  • Show card until – if the card is enabled and this date is set the card will be active until the midnight on the set date.
  • Show only on front page – if checked, a card will be shown only to users who access your front page. If they view any other pages, they won’t see the card. All other view limitations (session and cookies) also apply regardless of this setting.
  • Google Analytics UA code – if you have a Google Analytics profile set for the site enter the UA code here. If Google Analytics plugin from Yoast is used, UA will be configured automatically.
  • Track views via GA Events – in order to distinguish normal page views from ones that show the card an event gets tracked in GA with the following properties; category: Christmas Card, action: view, label: card name.
